Making natural handmade soap in a lab, perfect for skin.

From Chemical Engineering to soap making

Salma Merhebi is a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at the University of New South Wales. Her chemistry background developed her design and process skills. Also, she learned the fundamentals of soap-making mechanisms and different characteristics of the soaps, including the super fat and the safe PH of the end product.

As a researcher working in the lab for long hours, she knows each chemical safety data sheet, hazards, and corresponding health and safety handling procedure. She decided to move to organic and natural products daily and avoid chemicals as much as possible in her personal care and hygiene routine. She started purchasing organic chemical-free shampoo, deodorant, skin care products, and soap bars. Then, she started making her soaps, lip balms, and other bath products by trying recipes from natural ingredients without adding chemical colorants or fragrances.

And here is where the OrgHandy idea came in! OrgHandy is a combination of organic and handmade products that are soft on the skin, just like the textile woven from cotton “Organdy.” Her soaps were unique, and she got a lot of positive feedback from family and friends!

She has been developing and perfecting her organic recipes to make products smell heavenly and make you feel fresh!

“Nature does not just provide you with food and ingredients, if you study and follow nature, it will inspire you!”

A mesmerizing capture from the heart of nature, showcasing the intricate patterns and vibrant colors that our planet has to offer.

Towards a clean skin and planet!

According to world plastic waste statistics, the world produces approximately 300 million tonnes of plastic waste per year. This is almost equal to the combined weight of the total human population.

Is it time to switch away from plastic?

Our bathroom products are a significant source of daily plastic waste generation, from synthetic sponges to soap and body wash bottles.

Being an environmental activist, Salma envisioned making OrgHandy a small business with zero waste.

We package our products in sustainable packaging. Our soaps are all wrapped in biodegradable labels, and our bath products are all packed in non-plastic packaging. Our shop also provides sustainable, zero-waste tools for your bathroom, such as the soap saver bag and our bamboo draining soap dish.

We ship our products in compostable green satchels made from corn with fully carbon offset delivery through Sendle.

Think wisely before purchasing your products!
